XAMPP – Turn your PC into a development server

Installing XAMPP on your personal computer

XAMPP stands for “X (one of four OSs), Apache, MySQL, PHP, PERL” and is used to enable your personal computer with the web and database tools necessary to host its own dynamically driven websites for testing and development purposes. The following tutorial video demonstrations will show you the steps to set your computer up as a “localhost” server on Windows.

3) Explaining difference between localhost environment and WWW
4) Making shortcut to htdocs folder
5) Importantce of backing up XAMPP folder

 

For better quality, select 720p from the gear icon in the lower right video frame. For rapid initial loading, select 360p or lower from the gear icon in the lower right video frame. You can switch it to higher resolution shortly after several seconds of loading. To increase the speed of the video by dropping frames,  select “Speed” from the gear icon in the lower right video frame, and select 1.25, 1.5, or 2 from the options. To switch to a different video in the playlist, click the top left button with the three horizontal lines.
